Results from the EC2 project are there!
From April 2022 until April 2024 GEN Europe has been involved in the Horizon 2020 project Energy Citizenship and Energy Communities for a Clean-Energy Transition (EC2). Now that the project is coming to an end, we want to present its results and with it the project outputs that the consortium has been working on for the last 3 years. Among them, there is a set of policy reports on “Ways to support citizen participation in the European energy transition” that is an excellent starting point to understand how to make energy communities more inclusive. Other policy recommendations were aimed at politicians at national level and the European Union.
EC² researchers from the Universities of LEIPZIG and Groningen have been exploring the human side of the energy transition by looking at how people’s attitudes and behaviours regarding energy issues are influenced by various psychological factors, and their results have valuable lessons for policymakers.
Also, The Energy Citizen Empowerment Kit is now available in Spanish, Polish, Italian and Dutch! The kit is designed for energy communities, planners, local administrations and anyone working with citizens to co-create a more fair and inclusive energy transition.
Lastly, the Energy Communities Website Handbook, a comprehensive guide for ministries and administrations to creating a website that promotes and supports, is now downloadable!
GEN Europe is now working on continuing this experience by showcasing how ecovillages can get engaged and offer their expertise in the creation of Energy Communities and for the Energy Transition.
