Reflections on GEN Europe’s Staff and Council Meeting 2026
May 5th to May 8th 2026 at Arterra Bizimodu, Spain

In a world continuously reshaped by flux, amidst a poly-crisis that demands our deepest reflection, where does GEN Europe stand? Must we chart a singular course, or does our strength lie in embracing a multitude? What is the collective longing of our networks? What do our members — from diverse collectives to unique individuals — truly desire? Can such complex inquiries ever yield a simple, solitary answer?
In May 2026, as spring once again blossomed, the staff and council members of GEN Europe met in Arterra Bizimodu (Basque Country). It was more than a meeting; it was a collaborative process to seek clarity on a fundamental question: what is our strategic compass as we navigate these turbulent, uncertain times?
Are we to embrace a more pronounced political stance, or should we refrain? While some among us lean toward a resounding “yes,” others hold doubts or sit with the unknown, reflecting the rich, honest diversity of our collective.
Through four intense days of shared presence, we welcomed the new ESC team, delved into the intricacies of our financial landscape, and mapped out the upcoming 2026 Gathering at Nature Community, our project areas, and IT infrastructure. Yet, every thread of our discussions invariably wove back to the core of our strategy.
This precious time together was a profound immersion, forging a deeper bond and a renewed sense of purpose among staff and council alike. It was a vital crucible for distilling the direction we aspire to propose for the coming years. While no decisions are yet cast in stone, we have formulated proposals we eagerly anticipate sharing.
We await your presence in Germany, from the 10th to the 18th of July 2026, to collectively think, feel, and explore in that shared space.
May we find the courage to dare to trust…
In community,
Guilaume on behalf of staff & council
