GEN Book Club: At Work in the Ruins
You are kindly invited to join our GEN Book Club happening September 30th 2024, 6-8.30 pm CET online. For this second edition of our Book Club, we are reading At work in the Ruins: Finding Our Place in the Time of Climate Crises and Other Emergencies by Dougald Hine.
GEN International and GEN Europe are coming together yet again to offer an open space for reflection, discussion, and contemplation as part of our GEN book club: At Work in the Ruins. This gathering invites you to explore how we can navigate the deep uncertainties of our time. How do we respond to global crises without being driven by fear and control? How might we cultivate responses that are rooted in humility, curiosity, and love? What role do communities and individuals play in fostering the wisdom and practices needed to navigate these uncertain times, and how can traditional or ancestral knowledge guide us?
Our session is inspired by Dougald Hine’s thought-provoking book, At Work in the Ruins: Finding Our Place in the Time of Climate Crises and Other Emergencies, where we will also explore the concept of “working in the ruins”—how this perspective might shift how we approach challenges in our own lives and communities, ensuring to create good ruins for the new world to come. What new stories or myths do we need now, and how can we begin to tell and live those stories in our communities to build a more meaningful future?
We are excited to announce that Dougald Hine will join us for a live interview during this book club session, offering a chance to engage with him and ask your questions.
Free chapter 6 of the book, as well as the physical copy and audiobook version, are available for purchase here.
