Hi, my name is Aurelie!
Aurelie (she/her/hers) has worked for various NGOs that all had a strong focus on community-led initiatives, first in Brussels neighbourhoods (e.g. collective veggie gardens), then internationally with Indigenous peoples’ and local communities’ community conserved areas.
She has been following GEN Europe’s activities since 2018 and attended the Gathering in 2022 & 2023. She enjoyed this event so much that she decided to apply for the co-coordinator position in 2024. What she’s most excited about this role is to co-create with many teams and beautiful humans from all over Europe a programme that inspires, federates & empowers people creating, living in or interested in living in ecovillages. She strongly believes in the potential of those communities to be experimentation labs that embody a much-needed alternative story to the one told by “mainstream” capitalistic consumerist society.
She is currently based in a vibrant ecovillage in Belgium, where she enjoys very much the nourishment coming from a shared life with caring humans and from connecting with the land they are trying to regenerate to enable non-human beings to also thrive.
Her heart is moved by earth-based spirituality, and she sees the living world as sacred and hopes we can finally one day enter into a relation of reciprocity & mutual care with the earth and all the beautiful life forms inhabiting it. She highly values authentic connections & spaces that enable humans to do so, as well as spaces that enable them to express freely the whole range of who they are. She also loves to dance and you will probably see her doing so every night at the Gathering 😉
