Let’s build a European community-led network for sustainable technology!

The SusTech project aims at creating and fostering a Community of Practice (CoP) among eco-communities, sustainability projects, practitioners and educators in the field of sustainable technology.

Our network strives to develop small-scale, replicable, durable tech projects that empower communities, limit social exploitation and respect the environment. We want to connect and empower these crucial aspects of ecosystem regeneration, spanning from eco-building to solar ovens, from energy grids to ethical digital tools.

To this end, GEN Europe leads this Erasmus+ Small-scale Partnership that brings together tech-driven ecovillages and othereco-projects to

  • share knowledge and good practices, fostering tech literacy in ecological communities;
  • connect tech experts, projects and educators in the CoP, enhancing collaboration, cross-fertilization and innovation in the low-tech field.

Partners to this endeavour are the Los Portales Ecovillage (Spain), bringing their long-standing expertise in soil regeneration, Mindenegyüttmegy (MEGY), a Hungarian organization focusing on off-grid energy, and the Sunny Hill community (Slovenia), offering their knowledge of water management and dry-stone walls.

But we are looking for more projects and communities for our CoP!

What is in for you? In the 18 months of the project, we will be organizing:

  • 9 educational activities between the fall of 2025 and summer 2026, including in-person workshops, webinars and multiplier events (see them here);
  • an EXPO of the projects and solutions involved in the project during the European Ecovillage Gathering of 2025 (Manas Garden, Hungary) and 2026 (Nature Community, Germany), including presentations, workshops and an exhibition space;
  • an online Catalogue of experts, educators, solutions, projects and events related to appropriate technology in our Ecovillage Network.

Are you a tech enthusiast, or just curious about practical tools for your community or your work? Join or Community of Practice!
