GEN EU Open Call for the Visual identity for the European Ecovillage Gathering
1. Introduction
1.1 This competition is open for GEN Europe members and associates.
1.2 The competition is open to all legal and natural persons—amateur or professional designers, individual authors, or interdisciplinary creative teams.
1.3 Creative teams and legal persons must designate a representative, who will be responsible for the competition entry.
1.4 The GEN EU Selection Committee will select the winning design by majority vote from all participating members.
1.5 Participants who contributed to the creation of the competition’s terms, and members of the evaluation panel are not allowed to enter the competition.
1.6 Each participant may submit up to three entries for the competition.
1.7 All competition entries and accompanying documentation must be submitted to the designated form by 6th of November 2025.
1.8 The competition is open from the date of publication on October 6, 2025 until November 6, 2025.
2. Objective and Purpose of the Competition
This competition aims to design a logo and create a distinctive visual identity for the European Ecovillage Gathering, organised by GEN Europe, to be used indefinitely from 2026 on. The logo should represent the values of ecovillage living, sustainability, inclusivity, community, and regeneration in its concept, form, alignment, colour palette. It will be used across all online and offline promotional materials (including letterheads, posters, brochures, websites, merchandise and other formats). The logo should increase the visibility and recognizability of both the Gathering and GEN Europe as a key event for ecological and social resilience in Europe.
3. Submission Guidelines
Entries must be submitted in digital format via form as a .pdf file
Each submission should include:
- Brand Guideline with Instructions for annual customization process which include:
- The Design Statement
- The logo accompanied with primary font and colour palette proposal
- Additionally, designers can provide a mock-up demonstrating the general application of the logo on digital and print materials
4. Competition Timeline
The competition opens on October 6th, 2025. The deadline for submitting entries is November 6th, 2025.
Results will be announced by email by the end of November 2025. The names of the winners will be published via the GEN Europe Membership Newsletter.

6. Participant Requirements and Evaluation Process
Participants must:
- Submit a complete competition entry, with the main component being the logo and visual identity design.
- Be prepared to refine their submission if it is shortlisted for further development.
- If selected as the winner, provide the full brand guidelines (in .pdf format) within 14 days of the announcement.
7. Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria include:
- High communicative quality of the design.
- Professionalism and innovation.
- Usability across various media and technologies.
- Uniqueness and originality.
- Deep understanding of GEN Values and Timelessness.
8. Prize
Selection as the Gathering logo designer with payment of 1. 000 €, involving collaboration with GEN Europe on further developing illustrations and fonts for 2026 to complement the logo.
Upon awarding the prize, the winning entry becomes the property of GEN Europe, and GEN Europe reserves the right to use the logo without additional author permissions.
9. Final Provisions
By submitting their entries, participants agree to:
- The competition terms include the public display and publishing of their work.
- Allow GEN Europe to exhibit submitted entries on their websites or other platforms without additional compensation.
- Accept the decision of the GEN Europe Selection Committee to annul the competition if no entry meets the required standards.
- Settle any disputes through an amicable agreement
10. Submission Details
