Western European Community Initiatives for Localising the European Green Deal

ECOLISE and GEN EU invite interested stakeholders to join the Western Europe Meeting (WEM) in Hof van Moeder Aarde, The Netherlands. This event is part of the Communities for Local Green Deals project (COM4LGD), partially funded by the EU (CERV program). The event will focus mainly on sensing and brainstorming how a localized European Green Deal (EGD) can support biodiversity and tackle issues related to the Housing crisis, Ruralization, youth engagement and land regeneration.

The aim of the event is to connect key stakeholders such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), academics, practitioners, policymakers, and community-led initiatives (CLIs) from across Western Europe.

Western Europe Meeting (WEM) Main Event Themes

The Western Europe Meeting will be a platform for discussions, brainstorming and sensing around topics connected to housing, funding, rural development and youth engagement from a community-led initiatives (CLIs) perspective, directly addressing some of the region’s most pressing challenges such as access to land. Different formats such as connection to the place and to nature, interactive workshops, scenario planning, and a real-world community study visit the event will help lay the path to it.

  • Civil servants

This event is part of the Communities for Local Green Deals project (COM4LGD), partially funded by the EU (CERV call). The project is coordinated by the Global Ecovillage Network Europe (GEN Europe), and supported by partners such as ELARD; ICLEI Europe, CEI-ISCTE and ECON.

Format: We are aiming for a light and at the same time energetic format with spaces for getting to know each other, as well as for discussions, brainstorming and sensing around topics connected to ecovillages, housing & funding from a community-led initiatives (CLIs) perspective. You can expect diverse formats such as connection to the place and to nature, mind-body practices, interactive workshops, scenario planning, and real-world study visits.

Program:

Saturday, 18th January

Morning:

  • Intro for change makers to the event and to the GEN EU fund.
  • Connection moment with National Networks of Ecovillages

LUNCH BREAK

Afternoon:

  • Study visit Aardehuis
  • Discussion/session in Aardehuis (with the participation of local politicians)

DINNER in Hof van Moeder Aarde

Sunday, 19th January

Morning:

  • Session with GEN Fund with open discussion of different topics
  • Connection moment with National Networks of Ecovillages
  • Closure

LUNCH

  • Possibility of networking between participants in the afternoon.
