How can an ecovillage become a GEN Europe member?

Established ecovillages and networks of ecovillages are full members. Ecovillages under construction and forming networks can join as aspiring members.

Full Members

Full members are established ecovillages and ecovillage networks whose vision and goals are in accordance with the vision and goals of GEN.
Full members are actively engaged in the network, attend GAs, pay membership fees regularly out of own accord, respond to emails, and pass on information to their networks/communities etc.

Established ecovillages

  • have at least 8 permanent adult residents.
  • have a common purpose and vision.
  • have a community of people living together on the chosen site for at least two years, with a membership structure and decision-making process.
  • aim at the creation of a new culture with a balance in the ecological, social and spiritual/cultural aspects.

Ecovillage Networks

An Ecovillage Network is a network of ecovillages, intentional communities or likeminded project. It can be national or (macro-)regional.
We also accept as Ecovillage Networks diverse networks that have a strong focus on community living, as well as thematic networks (networks that follow a particular philosophy, e.g. Krishna Communities, Camphill), whose vision and goals are in accordance with the vision and goals of GEN.
Ecovillage networks must include at least three established ecovillages or intentional communities and have elected representatives.
A maximum of three ecovillage members of a diverse or thematic network can join GEN Europe as full members in addition to the network itself.
