IT Manager

Job title: IT Manager
Salary: 720 euros (gross salary)
Location:  GEN Europe office (Arterra Bizimodu Community, Artieda, Spain) Or
Home office (optional)
Work time: 48 hours/month
Contract duration: Permanent employment contract with a 6-month probation
period. Target start date: 1 October 2017

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • To define and implement an IT strategy for GEN Europe
  • To coordinate the activities of the IT Working Group
  • To establish a stable IT environment made up of well-working systems and information flows
  • To manage and report on the IT budget and expenditure and coordinate the procurement of IT services, software and hardware.
  • To document the processes and procedures of the organisation with the overall aim of managing and conserving its organisational knowledge
  • To analyse organisational information and training requirements, and to implement and deploy new systems accordingly

These are some of the things that you will be doing:

  • Ensure the timely maintenance and of a landscape of IT systems (NextCloud, Typo3, CiviCRM, Linux and other OpenSource systems)
  • Resolve and document IT issues and end-user queries, including end-users with special needs and differing IT capacities
  • Develop and execute project plans and deliver specific IT outcomes
  • Coordinate and ensure that back-ups, upgrades and other IT admin functions are done regularly
  • Support the delivery of IT-related components that stem from organisational projects and events


Requisite skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Work independently and within small teams
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Open Source philosophy and communities
  • Project planning and management
  • Technical proficiency of the Linux server environment, Web Content Management Systems and Client Relationship Management systems
  • Technical proficiency of HTML, XML, CSS, PHP and DataBase query languages
  • Responsive Web Design
  • Open Office suite
  • Technical writing and communication skills in English (proficiency in Spanish and German would be a plus)
